Cataract surgery

Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in people over 60 years of age. They are closely related to the aging of the crystalline lens, which is the natural lens of the eye that allows objects to focus and light to pass to the retina.

Types of intraocular lenses

There is a wide variety of intraocular lenses that can be used during cataract surgery, having three large groups: monofocal, EDOF and trifocal.

Eyelid bags or dermatochalasis

It is defined as excess skin on the eyelid, which can be associated with orbital fat prolapse, that is, sometimes there may be fat under the fold of skin that hangs from the eyelid.

Refractive surgery (correction of refractive errors)

Refractive surgery is the surgical procedure used to correct ametropia (need for correction with glasses to see properly).

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a syndrome of optic nerve damage associated with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in most cases.

Macular degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) will cause you to lose central vision. The macula is the central region of the retina, thanks to which we are able to distinguish shapes and colors.
